You can use the tool of imagination to visualize your desired outcome for a situation, a vacation, or an event you would like to experience. As you close your eyes and imagine the life you desire, take some time to engage all your senses.Look around you and SEE what's in the image you are visualizing. Really see what's in the picture before you. Turn your focus from side to side to get the entire panoramic view. Fully take in the colors and textures. If there are others around you, what do they look like? Reach out and TOUCH something or someone in your vision. Pick up an object. What does it feel like? How does it make you feel? Exhale deeply. What's the SMELL in the air? Perhaps you smell the scent of flowers, or the saltiness of the ocean, or maybe the warm aroma of bread baking? Now tune into what you're hearing, LISTEN. The sound of the ocean waves crashing or lapping against the shoreline, the excitement of the audience applauding, the rise and fall of your partner's breath as they lie next to you, or is it simply the stillness and serenity of peace and quiet you hear? Is there a TASTE to your vision? Maybe the essence of the meal you ate earlier, the minty aftertaste in your mouth or the drink of water you just swallowed. Savor it.Now imagine yourself beginning your day on a crisp autumn morning sitting on the deck of your house in the woods. You may see tall trees surrounding your property and smell the faint sent of pine in the air. Your senses catch the sweetness from the planters of brightly colored flowers in the corners of the deck and you hear the trickling of the water in the fish pond. You feel the softness of your favorite old sweatshirt touching your skin as the breeze gently moves the wind chimes. You taste your first sip of hot coffee or herbal tea as you sit on the deck chair to begin your day with quiet contemplation. Now take your thought or vision and bring it into reality and "real time" as much as you can. This means you must "think outside the box." For example, if the above vision is what you desire to create and you currently live in an apartment in the city, you can begin aligning and bring your vision into reality several ways. Get up in the morning and have a place where you can sit quietly to contemplate your day. Maybe use a deck chair. Play a CD that has trickling water and wind chimes. Place a few flower pots with brightly colored blossoms on the window sills. How about a fish bowl or mini aquarium? Open the window to feel the chilly autumn air or turn on a fan. Burn a pumpkin spice or autumn harvest scented candle. Purposefully enjoy and savor your first sip of a morning beverage. Maybe even make a collage of photographs or magazine images that take you into your vision and hang it on a wall so you can visit your special place often. You'll find that once you engage your imagination, the possibilities are endless.First create your vision. Then engage your senses in your vision. Then experience as fully as you can in the NOW with how you imagine yourself to be when you are actually living your vision. The real question to be answered is, "What is your purpose for creating your vision?" In the serene image described above, it may be that your job is stressful and you imagine that if you had a time in the morning to connect with your inner sense of peace, you would move through your work day more relaxed and feel less drained at day's end. After taking time to imagine and align yourself with this concept, begin and move throughout your day as if it were so. How would you be feeling emotionally? How would you be responding to the day's events? How would your conversations flow? How would you make your choices? The closer you align with your vision, the more it becomes your reality. It begins with your ability to believe you can change the here and now--- right now!Sharon Marquart is a gifted Certified Personal Coach, inspirational speaker and author.
