The God Kind of Kindness Shown in the Bible Costs, Where Worldly Kindness is Quite Cheap

Author : Les Herron
Is it really kindness if it does not cost? I am not sure it is. Being nice does not cost. We can all smile and open the door for an elderly person; of course, a door we are going through ourselves. But kindness, the spiritual characteristic talked about in the Bible, probably costs something. There is a phrase that says "kill them with your kindness" where the principle is we will show so much kindness that it will kill them to be mean to us or will literally 'slay' them in their meanness.Yet, true kindness costs us and kills off a part of us that probably needs to be killed or at least needs a good beating.Kindness with our money means that we release our finances upon the word of the Lord and that hurts. Kindness with our words means that we shut our mouth when we want to open it really wide and that costs us our desire to spew forth that which lies within (and kills pride).Have you ever made a decision to do something for someone but then we you realized the pain it would cause you or the price you'd have to pay you backed down? And came up with a practical or spiritual excuse for not doing what you intended to do?Have you ever heard God say to do something or give something and then, because of the cost involved, rationalized why you were not going to do it. And called the rationalization wisdom? What have you done lately that cost you something of value? That cost you time you did not have to spare? That got you dirty when you were not prepared to get dirty? That was done without anyone recognizing that you did it? That beat off a pound or two of ugly flesh in the process of being kind? When was the last time your kindness hurt?
