Money For Actors Waiting To Be Claimed

Author : Troy Rutter
Whether they are in the Screen Actors Guild or not, people have a tendancy to move. While SAG members always remember to forward their postal mail, oftentimes they neglect to notify their union of their new address. After six months to a year, the mail is no longer forwarded by the post office, and the dues letters and correspondence stop.Including their residual checks. What are residuals? Basically residuals are further compensation paid to performers for the re-use of a motion picture or television program they have appeared in. Performers are entitled to residuals if they are classified as a principal performer, which includes singers, stunt coordinators, pilots, dancers under Schedule J and other performers designed under the principal agreement.Residuals are paid to those performers ever 30 days after an airdate for television non-syndicated airings, four months for syndicated airdates and shows that are under basic cable agreements are paid quarrtlery. A full list of residual due dates can be found at www.sag.com.If you think you are due residuals, but have let your membership in the guild expire, or have not kept up your contact information, you can search the SAG Unclaimed Residuals Database for your name. If your name is found, it will give you precise instructions on how to fill out the paperwork to claim your due residuals. The number one lesson is:Keep your contact information with your unions current!Troy A. Rutter has been working with young performers for over ten years. His book, Kids in the Biz, provides step-by-step guidance to prospective young performers and their families. Virtual Reality Training for Military with Live Fire

Author : Lance Winslow
In the past war fighters have often trained with pop-up enemy targets to shoot at, which for the most part are static in nature. You may have seen such training used by the Army or US Marines where the combat troops come into an urban war zone and have to deal with sniper fire, mortar rounds and pop-up surprise targets to test their skill under extreme stress. The stress they experience include lack of sleep, fatigue from long distance marching carrying 50 lb loads, loud bomb shell noise and simulation, as well as fellow soldiers yelling and gun fire. They do this so when they are in the actual battlespace they can still accomplish their mission no matter what the chaos or circumstances, it is all about survival and overcoming the enemy.I propose using Holographic Imaging and Full Motion Video Technologies, which are getting closer to becoming reality. The world of Holographic 3D, 4D and 5D is nearly upon us. We will be enjoying Virtual Reality on our 360 X-Box in our living rooms. Military strategists and war fighters can play out the battle in the virtual battlespace in advance and then watch it un-fold in real time. By using Holographic Images for training war fighter we will make the experience so real, that when the battle does begin the soldier will have already done it and it will seem like routine. Think on this.Lance Winslow

Ghostwriting: Characterization

Author : Laura College
You might believe that the most important aspect of a short story or novel is the plot, but you would be wrong. Although every work of prose should have an exciting plot, characterization is ten times more important to your story. If your readers can't identify with your characters, they wouldn't care what happens to them during the course of your plot.Characterization is a skill that many published authors have yet to master, but their readership reflects that lack of ability. When an author captivates his or her readers with the characters in novels and short stories, people can't get enough of them.So how do you develop skills in characterization? And how do you know when your characters are dynamic enough to capture the attention and interest of your readers?First, you have to think of your characters as real people. They aren't simply imaginary two-dimensional images floating around on paper, but actual human beings. They walk, talk, laugh, cry and have idiosyncrasies that differentiate them from the other characters in your manuscript.Often, in order to effectively inflate your characters, they must be based on people that you have met. And it doesn't have to be a close friend or a family member; practice observing the people you meet on a daily basis: the checkout girl at the grocery store, the attendant at your Laundromat, the little girl who plays with your son at the park. All of the people you encounter on the street are fodder for characters in your manuscripts.Next, you have to define your characters' purpose in the story you're telling. You can have the most dynamic characters in the world, but if they don't further the plot of your manuscript, then you should shelve them for a future project. Characters are the lifeblood of your story, the reason why people will care what happens. And finally, always make sure that your characters are doing something. The difference between a novel and movie is that the only momentum your story has is what you are able to provide. If Jane Doe is always chewing her fingernails, point that out in your prose. And if John Doe is from East Texas, give him a East Texas dialect in your dialogue.Laura J. Vox Populi: Popular podcasts on the net

Author : Philip Nicosia
The overwhelming popularity of portable MP3 players has brought with it all new innovations in using this new technology. The most popular application that has come out recently are podcasts.

Podcasts are the automatic distribution of MP3 files via RSS or XML. With podcasts, a user downloads software and installs it in order to receive their favorite podcasts automatically from the podcast’s website. Apple iTunes is an example of a podcast software that can deliver podcasts to your personal computer. The files that are downloaded come in an mp3 format and you can then listen to them in your personal computer or better yet, on your portable MP3 player so you can bring your podcast episodes wherever you go.

Podcasts are like radio programs with one big difference. Anyone can make and distribute their podcasts. This makes it a true populist initiative. Podcasters can rant about their favorite political issue, talk about their CD collections, discuss plot twists in their favorite comic book titles or even advise people about how to make podcasts. The subjects and topics that can be discussed in podcasts are only limited by your imagination.

Just like popular TV or radio shows, there are already podcasts that can be considered as widely popular. Below are some popular podcasts that you should try:

The Onion Radio News â€" This is a daily podcast that features short news clips from The Onion’s 24 hour radio news network. For those who still don’t know The Onion, it is an online “news network” that puts a satirical spin on the latest news and political issues.

This Week in Tech â€" This award-winning podcast finds Leo Laporte and other well-known tech luminaries discussing the latest tech trends.

Science Friday â€" Making Science Radioactive â€" this weekly podcast discusses the latest news and trends in science, technology, health and the environment.

Ebert & Roeper â€" Popular film critics Ebert & Roeper review and discuss the merits (or demerits) of the latest movies showing in Hollywood.

Indiefeed: Alternative/Modern Rock â€" This is a great way of getting great songs from the alternative/modern rock genre. Everyday the podcast features one song that includes information about the artist as well as where to buy the album. This podcast is redefining how music is being delivered to people.

The Secrets to Weight Loss After Pregnancy

Author : Nishanth

Sarah is a pregnant mother of three who continues to breast-feed her 18-month-old. After each of her pregnancies, she has had difficulty losing weight. With all of her responsibilities, weight loss isn?t a priority. Still, she wishes that, once this pregnancy is over, she will be able to return to her pre-marriage weight. The average woman gains more than 25 pounds during her pregnancy. The procedure of childbirth may result in a weight loss of up to 14 pounds, which means that new moms still have considerable weight to lose once they leave the hospital. However, some women simply assume that this ?baby fat? will never go away. Yet, it is entirely possible to lose weight during the post-partum period. A number of medical experts recommend easing into a weight loss program after the birth of your baby. This means that you will not start dieting until about three months following birth. You should combine a low-fat diet with moderate exercise in order to achieve weight loss. Don?t expect instant results. It will take you a good nine months to get back to your weight prior to pregnancy. A go-slow approach is best because you need to give your body time to recover after childbirth. Certainly, you might be able to lose weight faster, but you might be sacrificing valuable nutrients as a result. Interestingly enough, breastfeeding actually enhances weight loss. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists has found that breastfeeding leads to the release of hormones which enable your uterus to return to its normal size. However, breastfeeding alone won?t bring down your weight. You need to combine it with a sensible diet and a moderate exercise program. Keep in mind that you need to have at least 1800 calories a day while breastfeeding in order to keep yourself and your baby healthy. Still, stay clear of junk food during this period. You should rely on food with high nutritional value to maintain the proper level of calories each day. There are many good reasons to exercise during the post-partum period. In addition to helping to accelerate weight reduction, exercise can help alleviate post-partum depression, improve your mood, and boost your confidence. Exercise can also ?clear your head? so that you?re better able to meet the demands of motherhood. You might consider joining a ?Mommy and Me? exercise class so that your baby can exercise right along with you. Another helpful hint is to enlist the help of a friend or relative to act as your exercise buddy so that you?ll have some emotional support while exercising. An added bonus of exercise is that it should boost your energy level, which is quite important when battling the fatigue which comes from caring for a newborn. Your diet should generally be low-fat but not fat-free; vitamin rich; and high-fiber. Under no circumstances should you go on a fad diet. Such a diet could be quite harmful to your health and could actually slow your recovery from childbirth. It?s a good idea to set weight-loss goals, but don?t go overboard. Recognize that there?s a limit to the amount of weight you can lose during a given period of time. You may see a number of actress-moms gracing the covers of magazines shortly after the birth of their children. They appear svelte and elegant, totally devoid of baby fat. In the accompanying article, they may even talk about exercising right after childbirth. Such articles send new mothers a dangerous message: that you must do all you can to become thin as quickly as possible after your baby is born. Such a philosophy is not only ridiculous, it?s also unhealthy. As a result, you?ll need to ?tune out? such messages from the media and stay the course with your own gradual weight loss plan. The time right after the birth of a child can be quite challenging, taxing both your physical and emotional strength. While it is certainly a good idea to eat healthy, you?ll need to pace yourself as far as weight loss is concerned. Over time, you should be able to lose the weight you gained during your pregnancy. In fact, you might find that you?re actually healthier after your baby is born. Nishanth Reddy is an Author and Publisher of various health related websites.
