The findings demonstrate that those participants who were exposed to rape-related words evaluated the woman more negatively than the participants who were exposed to neutral words. Therefore, the results of the experiment emphasize that general convictions are automatically activated. Besides, the findings support the views expressed by the other researchers that those who believe in a just world will usually rebuke the victim in the situations related to rape. Thus, it is clear that individual's judgements are usually subjective because they are mostly based on general beliefs which are automatically activated.Thus, automatic activation refers to the extent to which certain belief is on one's mind, activated, and accessible. To be applied, certain belief probably needs to have been activated first. However, people may activate orienting beliefs and, nevertheless, refrain from applying it to any individual.
