Self Education"There are three forms of culture: worldly culture, the mere acquisition of information; religious culture, following rules; elite culture, self development."(The Sufi Master Hujwiri, Revelation of the Veiled)Although you see a Sufi quote above, the information is not based upon any belief system, particular creed or religion. Our personal beliefs and faith are one thing, blind dogma is yet another. There is a marked difference between what we HAVE to learn, are told that we MUST or SHOULD and what we choose to learn and follow with our heart. Many times these may be the same path as in the instance of someone who just loves photography, or studying wildlife. I worked around, and with, world class scientific researchers and observed those to whom it was just a job and those who had their heart fully in their work. There is that which will enable one to be more professionally qualified to earn an income and there are those areas that will add an edge of quality to the professional area. Take for instance the person whose job entails speaking in front of people. If they attend and participate in activities that enhance their public speaking abilities then this will add to their proficiency at work. There may be those who have their heart in their job and also have a hobby or pastime that completely absorbs their interest. The ability to be able to switch attention and focus is a great attribute. It is on the other areas of increased awareness and development of self that we shall be focusing. The person with greater choice and increased adaptability is the most likely to be happy and more at peace with themselves and the world in general. In a great many areas this may mean a change of belief or attitude. For most of us we will only be willing to look at other options to our usual way of thinking when we feel a high intensity of pain. With increased awareness of other options for living and being we may be able to either reduce the pain or even skip around it. Not suppression or numbness, just having more options and choice points. The information contained here will trustfully just trigger what you already know at a deeper level and allow you to bring it forth in a joyous and open manner. For most of us our time of greatest learning was up to the age of 6 or 7. Many people of the world have learnt several or more languages by this time. Provided our environment is conducive this is the time when our enthusiasm and curiosity is at its greatest for questioning any one who will listen.Author: Peter Boyd .
