There's likely no issue more pressing to the aftermarket then fuel prices,a topic closely linked with energy costs, world politics, weather, terrorism and a number of other factors. All signs point to at least a $3-a-gallon summer, but U.S. motorists are still driving, despite fluctuations in gas prices. In fact, the world oil market continues to cater to North America-at least for now.Regardless of country, oil prices could change virtually overnight. In fact, just the threat of a possible world-altering event can lead fuel prices in an upward trajectory. A simulation conducted last year projected that natural disasters or political problems could cause fuel prices to jump to more than $5 a gallon. When you buy a gallon of gas, most of the money goes toward the price of crude oil, refinery costs and taxes.About 50% of the cost of gas is determined by crude oil prices; the percentage comprising refining costs and taxes varies from 15% to 30% for each, depending on whom you talk to and where you live. The Energy Policy calls for hydrogen fuel cell vehicles on the road by 2020 and includes a renewable fuels requirement to add 7.5 billon gallons of ethanol and other renewable fuels to the U.S. gasoline supply by 2012. The renewable fules component refers to such materials as corn, plants, grasses, "agricultural residues and wast products," according to the policy's authors. The Energy Policy also provides about $18 millon over five years so the Department of Transportation can work on improving the aforementioned Corporate Average Fuel Economy(CAFE)standards.A simulation preformed by the White House cabinet, found that taking less than 4% of oil off the global market could potentially cause a dramatic spike in prices. The different scenarios, which entailed civil unrest in Nigeria, terrorist attacks on Alaskan and Saudi Arabian infrastructure and weather problems, created a "shortfall" of 3 millon-barrel supply, resulting in projected gas prices of $5.74 per gallon.Find out more about Fuel Saving Devices at our website: http://www.preferredenergy.us
